Privacy policy

In short: Everything you add to Kwity (receipts, photos, amounts, dates) stays on your phone. Only if you leave iCloud sync on (it is on by default and can be switched off in the menu) is it also copied to your own private iCloud, which we have no access to. Text recognition from photos happens on your device. The app only sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, without names, amounts, dates or photos. There are no accounts or ads, and your data is not sold.

What data the app stores

Kwity stores locally, in your device’s storage, only what you add yourself:

Text recognition

Text on receipts is read by iOS on your device. Photos and recognized text are not sent to any cloud or to the developer.

Usage statistics and crash reports

To know which features work and which need fixing, the app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google). Only technical events are sent, such as “saved a parking ticket”, “opened the details screen” or “finished a scan”, along with crash reports that include information about the device and system version. We do not send product or store names, amounts, dates, notes, recognized text or photos. Firebase may assign the device an anonymous installation identifier. Google processes the data under its own privacy policy.

Voluntary coffee for the developer

In the menu you can buy the developer a coffee as a one-time in-app purchase. The payment is handled entirely by Apple (the App Store): we do not see or store card details, account details or the name of the person paying. On your phone we only remember the number of coffees bought, so we can show it in the thank-you message. Statistics only receive which coffee was chosen, without the amount or any personal data.

iCloud sync (free, can be switched off)

In the menu under “iCloud sync” you can turn sync on or off; it is free. While it is on, your receipts, categories and photos are copied to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) and appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. The developer cannot see or read this data: it lives in your own iCloud account, and Apple processes it under its own terms. Without an iCloud account, or with sync switched off, nothing leaves your phone.

Notifications

Reminders about the end of a warranty, a deposit or a parking ticket are local notifications scheduled on your phone. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn on your first reminder.

Camera and photos

The app uses the camera to scan a receipt, and the photo library when you pick a photo manually. Access is used only at those moments.

Sharing

The app never shares anything on its own. If you export a receipt as a PDF and send it on (for example to a store for a complaint), you do it through the system share sheet and you choose the recipient.

Deleting data

Deleting a receipt removes its photos from your phone. Deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. If iCloud sync is on, the data also stays in your iCloud until you delete it there (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage storage → Kwity).

Changes

If the scope of the data we collect changes, we will update this document and tell you in the app.
